Cruising Into a Bigger Future: Why Monadnock Area Cars & Culture Is Expanding Beyond the Car Show

When I was growing up, car shows weren’t just about chrome, horsepower, or trophies. They were about people.

They were about conversations leaning over a fender. They were about sharing stories of first cars, weekend projects, and the memories connected to the vehicles parked in our driveways and garages. More than anything, they were about community.

Over the years, I’ve come to realize that the greatest part of any automotive event isn’t the cars themselves—it’s the friendships that develop because of them.

That’s why Monadnock Area Cars & Culture is entering an exciting new chapter.

While many people know us through our annual car show, our vision today is much bigger. We want to create a year-round automotive community that connects enthusiasts, businesses, clubs, charities, and events throughout the Monadnock Region.

The car show will always remain at the heart of what we do. But instead of gathering once a year and then disappearing until the next event, we’re working to create something that keeps people connected every month of the year.

Kevin Barnes of Alternative Detailing Solutions, Jacob, and I (Powerless Over Cars) are dedicated to seeing it move ahead and become more than a weekend.

More Than a Website

One of the first projects we’re expanding is the MACC website.

For many years, websites have served as simple information pages. Ours is evolving into something more useful—a resource where local enthusiasts can discover events, learn about businesses, meet other members, and stay informed about what’s happening throughout the region.

A major part of that effort will be the development of a regional events calendar.

There are already dozens of car shows, cruise nights, Cars & Coffee gatherings, motorcycle events, charity fundraisers, and community festivals happening throughout New Hampshire and the surrounding area. The challenge is that many people simply don’t hear about them until after they’ve already happened.

Our goal is to create a single place where enthusiasts can easily find upcoming events and organizers can promote them to a broader audience.

We also hope this calendar becomes a valuable tool for clubs, dealerships, nonprofits, and local organizations looking to reach people who are passionate about automotive culture.

Supporting Local Businesses

Another exciting addition is our new business directory.

Throughout my years in the automotive community, I’ve met countless local business owners who are passionate about what they do. They work hard, support local events, sponsor community activities, and provide valuable services that help keep our vehicles looking and running their best.

Many of these businesses are small, locally owned operations that don’t have huge marketing budgets. Yet they are often the backbone of our community.

Our directory is being designed to help connect those businesses with local vehicle owners who need services such as:

• Detailing
• Ceramic coatings
• Repair work
• Tire services
• Towing
• Restoration
• Performance upgrades
• Insurance
• Parts and accessories

For business owners, it creates another avenue for visibility. For enthusiasts, it becomes a trusted local resource.

It’s a win-win relationship that strengthens the entire network.

A Home for Sponsors and Advertisers

None of these initiatives will happen without support.

Sponsors have always played a vital role in helping community events succeed, and we want to provide more value in return.

Through our newsletter, directory, website, and events calendar, businesses will have new opportunities to tell their stories, showcase services, share special offers, and build relationships with the people they serve.

The goal isn’t to overwhelm people with advertising.

The goal is to introduce people to businesses that genuinely support the automotive community and deserve recognition.

The Cars Still Matter

Of course, we can never forget why we’re all here in the first place.

Cars continue to inspire us.

One recent example is a beautifully restored 1969 Chevrolet Camaro owned by a local MACC member. Seeing vehicles like that reminds us of the craftsmanship, dedication, patience, and pride that go into preserving automotive history.

Every vehicle has a story.

Sometimes it’s a decades-long restoration project. Sometimes it’s the car someone owned in high school. Sometimes it’s a family heirloom that has been passed from one generation to another.

Those stories deserve to be shared, and we hope to feature more of them through future newsletters, website articles, and community spotlights.

Looking Ahead

The automotive community in the Monadnock Region continues to grow.

New clubs are forming. New businesses are opening. New enthusiasts are discovering the hobby every day. Charitable organizations are using automotive events to raise money for worthy causes. Families are finding opportunities to spend time together through shared interests.

That’s something worth investing in.

We’re currently working on plans that include a Fall Cruise Series, Winter Garage Gatherings, member discount programs, additional charity events, and expanded networking opportunities for both individuals and businesses.

Our membership program is also growing. Individual memberships help support the mission while providing benefits such as invitations, discounts, newsletters, and member recognition. Business memberships provide marketing opportunities, event promotion, directory placement, and community visibility.

Most importantly, membership helps build something that belongs to all of us.

At 71 years old, I’ve learned that success isn’t measured solely by attendance numbers, revenue, or trophies handed out at the end of the day.

Success is measured by relationships.

It’s measured by seeing people laugh together around a classic car. It’s measured by local businesses helping one another succeed. It’s measured by communities coming together for good causes. And it’s measured by knowing you’ve helped create something that people are proud to be part of.

That’s what Monadnock Area Cars & Culture is all about.
